New Developments for the New Year

Ivy started a new day care this week because Rhonda and her family, who had been watching Ivy, bought a house in Austin TX and are moving this month. (Congratulations to you guys!! We are sure going to miss you all and we are sooooo thankful for the time Ivy has spent with you during her first year.) She's been doing O.K. and as expected at the new place we call Gabby's House. She crys in the mornings when Scott drops her off, but is eating well, napping well, and doesn't want to leave when I show up in the afternoons to pick her up. One of the really cool things about Gabby is that she and her assistant speak spanish to the kids and Ivy is starting to pick it up. Her very first word so far is "mokos" wich means boogers. Mama and Dada are very proud of our bilingual little girl so far. Watch out Dora!

The pictures this week were taken by our good friend Jen on a visit to Pedro that Scott and Ivy took about a week ago. (Thanks Jen!) Scott has to watch Ivy all day long on the weekends now when I have to work/sleep. So far they are doing a great job keeping each other busy and entertained. Taking care of Ivy has really gotten easier now that she can communicate her needs. In the last couple of weeks, some new neurons have definitely connected and her language ability is astonishing us. She is puting together 3 word sentences and picking up new vocabulary by the minute.

Ivy is also putting some meat on her bones finally. Her appetite has grown and she's getting heavier. I haven't gotten a chance to weigh her yet, but she will get evaluated at her 18 month check-up at the end of February.

This last photo is one of her favorite things to do ... help dad play the guitar by holding all of the strings down. It's a good start!

Ivy is so contemplative in these pics! We sure enjoyed visiting you guys this weekend, and Ivy was very charming...even without a nap (and especially when she finally fell asleep face first into her dinner)!

I can't believe she's already coming up on 18 months...wow!
