Happy New Year 2008...with a splash!

Happy New Year everyone! I celebrated at work this year, just like last year, with a Martenelli's toast with the other nurses. WoW! What a blast that was! Scott and Ivy celebrated almost as hard buy going to bed early. It was a good thing though, because after sleeping only 3 hours, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, we headed over to Cabrillo Beach in Pedro for the annual New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim. (Sorry, there will be no pictures of us in swimsuits this year!) The air temperature was 68 with a water temperature of 53. Yes, it was cold but we still did it. Even Ivy got in up to her ankles this year.

Our friend Yvette, Ivy's very own "Tia", joined us. She supplied us all with cinnamon rolls and coffee afterwards.

This picture was taken just this morning, before the tree was taken down. We got Ivy to wear these pants today in honor of her new favorite story book, Dr. Suess's "Sneeches and other stories". There's a story about pale green pants that we have to read to her about 10 times a day.
Ivy has also been saying some pretty funny and observant things to us lately. She said to Scott the other day when he was wearing one of his western shirts and cowboy boots, "Dad, you're Rockabilly". Then to me in the car when we were listening to "Lay Lady Lay" when I asked Scott who this was, Ivy correctly repeated, "This is Bob Dylan mom". Her not so cute favorite thing to tell us lately though is either we are her friend or "you're not my friend" when she is mad at us, which is quite frequent these last couple of months. I hope these terrible twos end soon!
